Population
Singapore
The country of Singapore has a population of 5,460,302. The average woman in Singapore bears birth to 0.79 children, which means many women do not become mothers. Like Singapore’s birth statistics, the number of deaths is quite low. The Crude Death Rate stands at 3.41 people per 1000 people and Infant Mortality Rate is 2.59 infants per 1000 births. There are so few deaths because there are few children being born and the population is so small anyway. Also, medical and technological advancements have allowed the sick to be cured, and degenerative diseases to be slowed down. These characteristics of a stable Stage 3 country has allowed for some of the highest life expectancy in the world. Males, on average, live to be 81.67 years old, and women live slightly longer at 86.64 years.
This is a population pyramid of Singapore and shows that the majority of the population are young adults and that birth rates are decreasing.

Philippines
The population of the Philippines is very large at 105,720,644 people. Even though the NIR is not exceedingly great, it adds many people each year because of the country’s large base population. The Crude Death Rate is 4.95 deaths for every 1000 people. The lower death rates allow for a faster growing population. The Infant Mortality is also high, along with the Crude Birth Rate. It stands at 18.19 infant deaths per 1000 people. The high birth rates allow for more chances of survival. Medical technology is not great, therefore hindering the survival of the sick and resulting in a high infant mortality rate. Infectious diseases are common and less medical advancements means many people do not get the treatment they need. The life expectancy for males is 69.26 years and 75.31 years for women.
This is a population pyramid of the Philippines and shows that birth rates are growing since most of the population are young children.

The Philippines
The Philippines has a negative net migration.
It is one of the countries that send the most migrants to the United States. People leave because living and working conditions are very bad. There are over one million Filipinos that leave the country temporarily for work visas in other countries. This is an example of brain drain because most of the temporary emigrants are highly skilled. They move to places such as Singapore and Hong Kong because they are centers of economic activity. Most immigrants come from:
This growth has led to an increase in internal migration. People are moving away from densely populated areas, and moving to less populated areas such as the island of Mindanao. More people leave than come because of
